produces this error when I click Restart after declining to back up anything again: Failed to restart the computer. Trying it through Backup & Restore/Recover system settings on your computer/Advanced Recovery Methods/Use a System Image. But now I can't restore that image either. Before I did that, I used Backup/Restore to create a system image of my C: drive (Windows and apps only). In following the article's suggestions, I had to uninstall the drivers and present version of the software for the Microsoft Natural Ergonomic 4000 keyboard. The error message I get when trying to install it is “Setup cannot install this software because your computer does not meet the system requirements.” The only step I didn't try is uninstalling my current version of the Mouse & Keyboard software before trying to install the new version, for fear of losing it altogether. Specifically, I’ve made sure I have the latest version of the software from Microsoft’s site, that Windows Installer service is set to Automatic, I have the latest version (5.0) of Windows Installer, and I’ve tried a clean startup with clearing the Temp folder just before installation, with all programs closed.

I have tried to solve the problem of installing the Mouse & Keyboard Center software by following all but one of the steps on Microsoft’s support page, “Troubleshoot installing Intellipoint, Intellitype, or LifeCam software,” which, despite the title, seems to apply to this software too. I can’t update Microsoft’s Mouse & Keyboard Center to v.11.1 for 64 bit.
